Only Human
VERSION 16 IS NOW ON PATREON
If you like the game, consider becoming a patron. It would mean the world to me.
If you're interested in keeping up with the development of Only Human, consider joining the Discord server.
"Only Human" is a character driven non-linear story in which the player takes on the role of the last Human left in the kingdoms.
After the destruction of your people at the end of a decades long war with demonic entities, you set out alone to try and atone for the atrocities of your people by ridding the world of monsters and evil entities. Go on dangerous missions to defeat deadly foes and mythical beings, collect powerful weapons, and forge bonds with the warriors of the lands you have sworn to protect.
The choices you make will affect the world around you and the people closest to you. Will you be warm and compassionate, or cold and indifferent? Will you venture on to single handily rid the world of evil or die trying? or will you accept that the atrocities of your people aren't your burden to carry? Will you live a happy life? Maybe even fall in love?
The choice is yours.

Awww yeaaah new update, new game! ๐
I've been trying to fix that for like three months now. If you save to disk it'll always work but the save purge on an update is something that can't be avoided
Yeah its fine lol im working on a funny little project atm im half way done ๐
That's cool. Is is something you'll share on itch
Oh no i meant i found something really funny in the game, ill show you once im finished ๐
I'm kind of excited to see what it is honestly. Having something that people find funny gives me a lot of drive to work on the game
Also I saw your dev log, its not a big deal that the game resets, its really not too time consuming to get back to where you were, the only real difficulty is the fight scenes, but i takes me about 10 minutes to speed run my way back, i made the original post because i was feeling funny ๐
@Lucid Cell found an issue in one of the conversations you have with Eve.
When you greet her and offer to help with the herbs, you cant end the scene, you have to go back and ignore her
Thanks for showing me this. It will be fixed in the next update. Which thankfully will be live in about a minute
You got an issue in sylvies room
I'll get right on that. It'll be fixed in the next patch. Thanks for bringing this to my attention
Im not entirely sure if there is supposed to be dialogue, or a button to initiate a convo, or ignore it but theres this scene with maeve stalking ruben
Also an actual error in sylvies room after entering it from the dungeon
I'll have these fixed at the latest by next month's update. I've been quite busy with other aspects of the game but I plan on a series of updates for the manor to add new scenes and fix bugs. These issues and others I find should disappear once I've finished with the updates. Thanks for pointing these out, it really helps
Found this one on the doppleganger mission when ruben and the others went to investigate the deer
This entire side mission is in desperate need of a full rework if I'm being honest. I've got plans to fix it all up but I've already planned the next few updates. I'll spare some time to fix up all the errors for the next update though. So problems like these will be gone
I like all the missions you have so far, theyre all creative and good concepts, its all a work in progress no need to worry about it that much haha, just helping point out the errors I find to help
Lol i also just fought the latest boss, good fight
I'm glad you're enjoying the game so far. It can get a bit draining working on it alone. But seeing that people play it makes it worth it.
If it's not too much trouble, there's a channel on the discord where you can post any bugs or errors you find (Not a plug I promise). I'll see any errors you find a lot quicker there.
And again thanks for pointing out these things, it helps a lot
Thanks for pointing this out, Sometimes these things just slip past. I'll make sure to fix it
Finally had time to get back to the game. Reading over it a second time to hunt down some more typos. Here's what I got so far. Will likely continue with it tomorrow (if I have the time). Also do you have discord? Itch is kinda inconvenient for typo reports since I can only send image files. Can neither paste ss here directly nor can I send them in a doc if I gather a bunch at once.
Thanks again for showing me this. I've already fixed the previous spelling mistakes in the most recent version of the game I'm working on (Not the upcoming update but the one that comes next) and I'll be sure to correct these mistakes as well. Honestly it's baffling the mistakes that get past me. I once spelled "awkward" with "U" and "E" thrown in there somehow. Also be warned this reply is long.
About your other inquiries, I'll answer them in order.
First, I do have discord. I am also thinking about making a server if the community ever gets big enough. For now if you would like you can send me messages personally. My username is Flamin'L#9253. Feel free to send me anything else you find or to just ask general questions about the game if you have any.
Collecting the bounty for the minotaur comes in the update I will be releasing in mid July that adds an explorable village to the game. The June update focuses more on the manor itself. The only reason the MC thinks about it is to reaffirm that he only fought the minotaur for the money.
"Latter of food." is supposed to be "platter of food." My keyboard is a piece of crap. I meant "on the wall is an adjustable metal arm."
To answer your question about Alonzo. What I'm trying to portray is that he invented and named the shower and the lights. The idea around Alonzo is the player spends enough time around him to start to understand he's a genius who invents things either for fun or to just stave off boredom. One of the drawbacks of his limited run in the demo is it doesn't allow quite enough time for this to be easily picked up, but Alonzo will become more fleshed out as the game goes on. But just so no one is confused in the future, I'll add a scene where the MC talks to Alonzo about the shower.
Finally, the last one was intentional. A lot of what the characters are feeling internally will come in the form of how they say things. The MC for example has not fully come to terms with the death of his people and is instead doing everything in his power to disconnect himself from them. Referring to them in the past tense helps him do this. Reaffirming the idea that they are gone, but he is not. Other characters will use present tense when talking about the impact the human empire has left in its wake.
To finish up I'd like to point out a lot of the errors in sentence structure are because I'll write something one way, decide to change it, and not rewrite it all without realising or I'll start a sentence, get distracted by something, then come back with a different idea in mind for how to write the sentence that ends up messing with the structure.
I'm really glad you're taking the time to play my demo and I'm thankful you're helping me fix the mistakes I've made.
I hope you enjoy the next update of the game, it's the product of about six months of work and I'm quite proud of it. Let know if there's anything I missed... and sorry for the essay.
Will send you a dm with the next batch of typos, etc.
About the minotaur bounty: Was it really only money? Think it was mentioned that he also wants to make up for the evil deeds of his kin and he also thinks to himself that he would normally go look for a village with a monster problem to stave off boredom if he wasn't injured. Or is he just telling himself that he did it only for the money because he refuses to acknowlege the other reasons?
Thanks for clarifying about Alonzo. It wasn't quite clear if he really invented those things or if he knew them from elsewhere and merely introduced them to wherever the mc is at rn. When talking about the dragon scales and teeth for example he says something along the lines of "if I can figure that out, we will have electrical light". That makes it sound as if electrical light is a known concept and he merely looks for a way to make it work in the manor with the materials on hand. That impression is further backed up by the fact that the MC just accepts that term without asking what exactly it refers to (even though its kinda obvious since they talked about the whole dragon scale thingy before Alonzo brought up that term (electrical light).
Ah ok, that explains the MC's choice of words when referring to the human empire.
Don't worry about the spelling mistakes and structural errors. When writing longer texts that's perfectly normal. Since I'm playing the game anyway it's no real trouble to point out the mistakes I notice while playing. Plus it helps me keep my own English skills sharp (not a native speaker). So typo hunting basically helps both you and me.
Looking forward to the next version. And don't worry about the wall of text. For one this reply of mine isn't exactly short either and for another I wouldn't be playing text-based games if a wall of text could scare me off.
